This also required restructuring the program to meet the unique needs of families and addressing facility modifications to accommodate larger and more diverse household units.
Family Conversion
The project, with a budget of $250K, aimed to transition an existing shelter, originally designed for individuals, into an overflow space for families. It involved implementing targeted hiring initiatives to ensure sufficient staff capacity and expertise to support the new population.

To transition the shelter for family use, I developed a Risk Management Plan addressing potential challenges such as hiring delays, security, cleaning, and IT setup. I collaborated across five departments to ensure the plan was fully aligned and operationally supported.
Â
I created a Work Breakdown Structure and a Gantt chart to organize tasks, track timelines, and manage dependencies.
Â
I led regular meetings, conducted inventory assessments, assisted in procurement of vendors, and implemented a communication plan to keep stakeholders informed, ensuring a smooth, coordinated transition.
The transition allowed the shelter to accommodate larger households, provide appropriate resources and services, and create a more comfortable environment for families facing housing challenges.
The facility successfully opened as a welcoming space for families in need of safe, supportive temporary housing. New vendor contracts were established to ensure reliable security, consistent cleanliness, and smooth daily operations for the families moving in.
